From Ganesh rush to needy kids: BMC to recycle 4 tonnes of discarded footwear

Mumbai civic body is recycling discarded footwear from festival crowds. This initiative collects nearly four metric tonnes of abandoned shoes and sandals. An NGO will refurbish these items at its workshop in Bhiwandi. The repaired footwear will then be distributed to needy school children. This program aims to manage festival waste and aid economically weaker families.
